Welcome to the Kitty Star of the Week for November 14 - 20, 1999
Ricki is a 16 year-old Tortoiseshell. She is a bit unusual because she
has been diabetic for nearly 10 years. She gets her insulin injection
in the scruff of the neck and it doesn't seem to bother her at all.
Other than needing extra medical care, she leads a normal indoor-cat
life. Sitting in the sun in the window. Snoozing. Clawing the
scratching post. Racing around for a few minutes with the cat-crazies.
Having some catnip. Chasing a shoelace. Lap sitting.
Of all the things Ricki does, lap sitting is her favorite. She can
sit in a lap for hours, either curled up in a little ball, or
stretched out along the person's legs (Ricki is a very long cat).
She gets upset if she doesn't get a lap to sit in when she wants one.
She will begin meowing and sulking a bit if she doesn't get a lap!
She also likes to sit on her human's lap while her human is working
on the computer. And Ricki will try to rest her head on the keyboard
or on the back of her human's hand (makes typing a little difficult!).
In all, Ricki is a sweet and loving cat.
