Kitty Star of the Week for May 14 - 20, 2006
This week our star is Rockat, "one year old and truly a beloved lunatic."
His person-dad writes,
"I got Rockat from the animal shelter when he was about twelve weeks old.
When they first took him out of the cage, they warned me not to put him down - or he'd
take off like a Rocket!
He's a dry food and Fancy Feast cat, but also loves spaghetti. I'm forever finding little
bits of the stuff all over the floor after I've eaten dinner - he sneaks onto the counter
and scoops pieces out of the sink.
As part of his eccentricities, it is impossible to keep a closet door closed. At night
it often sounds like someone's breaking in as he patrols my place and pries open all the
doors. And ever since he could leap up, every morning he watches me take a shower!
"His favorite trick is to burrow under the sofa's
slipcover and lie in wait for someone to sit down; then he attacks.
Rockat has also added a new trick to his routine. He now leaps onto the back of the
rocking chair hard enough to send it tipping over while he rides it crashing to the
floor. I'm now wondering if he is part Maine coon and part chimpanzee! I do know my
life has been permanently changed since he arrived. As I write, he is downstairs playing
with Elvis, a little white dog that just moved in. Before Elvis, there was a black
chihuahua best friend. Rockat seems to have trouble telling dogs from cats.
I was told
Maine Coons can be a handful, and Rockat certainly is; but he's also a great clown and
tremendous fun."
