Kitty Star of the Week for January 25 - 31, 2004.
Our submitter writes,
"This is Jake as a kitten and Jake today, Jake is a one and 1/2 year
old mix of I don't know what. We planned for Jake for a long time,
looking for just the right kitten to add to our family of two.
"December of 2002 my 20 year old son died in an auto accident.
It is said that an animal can save lives. Well, take it from someone
who has lived it. When I came home from the morgue the day of my
son's death, I had to be sure I had enough money to do all the
running around that was needed for arrangements for a unexpected
funeral. Of course I was still in shock and totally numb from
heartache and disbelief. I had no idea how I was going to get
through this horrible tragedy. Jake took a $20.00 bill out
from my hand and ran off with it. (sounds silly ha?) But it was
enough to change my mode of thinking have a small smile on my face.
"Jake from that day on never let me go a day without doing something
to put a smile on my face and keep love in my heart. So believe me
when I say, "Animals feel your pain and they are healers of the
heart and soul," because it is true. I will forever be greatful
to our Jake... Thank you, Jakey Poops, Mommy and Daddy love you."
