Kitty Star of the Week for Apr. 30 - May 6, 2000.
Buttercup and her feline house-mate, Katie, have lived in their Bowie, MD
home for only about two months. Their former person moved and could not
take the cats along. They spent about a week as street cats before being
adopted by their current human.
Buttercup is about 6 years old and had several litters of kittens before
being spayed. When she moved to her current home, she left behind a son
who strongly resembles her. Buttercup is very playful, and will attack
nearly anything small and moving, including her bushy tail. Her favorite
prey is small, white stuffed mouse. She often proudly presents the mouse
as a trophy to her person after an especially satifsying session of chasing
and throwing the mouse. She's looking forward to Summer when she hopes to
catch a real mouse.
Buttercup loves watching the birds and squirrels on the deck, and often
runs out for a closer look. Her ambition is to someday catch a squirrel.
She hasn't decided yet what she'll do with it if she does catch one. The
squirrel population doesn't seem to feel that there's any immediate danger!
Her funniest adventure in her new home so far was her attempt to
tightrope-walk on the clothes line. A clothes line with clothes hanging on
it turns out to be no more stable than an empty one!
