Kitty Star of the Week for Jul. 30 - Aug. 5, 2006
This week our star is Mittens, and her person-mom writes:
"Mittens is a gray tabby who was born in Canton, Georgia (which is in Northern Georgia)
in June of 2002. Her previous owners gave her up to a local Georgia animal shelter,
because they didn't have the money to continue taking care of her. Mittens was at the
shelter for 1 1/2 months before Mom and I got her. The reason why we got her was, because
she stood out from all the other cats because she had big, beautiful green eyes a person
could notice from a mile away; and anytime I got close to her cage, she tried to get my
attention by sticking her paws out of the cage and touching me. It was so cute. Obviously
she was trying to tell me she wanted to go home with me, and Mom and I were happy to
comply. Now Mittens, Mom, and I live in a town not too far away from where Mittens was
raised for the beginning of her life.

"Mittens used to be very energetic and run around
alot but now that's she's older she doesn't run around nearly as much. She sleeps most
of the day. The only time she plays is at night when everyone's asleep and she knows
nobody is looking. But sometimes if Mom or I can't sleep, we catch Mittens in the act.
Mittens is smart but she can't fool or trick anybody. But when she does try to trick or
fool us, it is so cute. Mittens likes to bat around anything that is plastic, especially
straws and the plastic cherries from the Hi-Ho Cherry-O game. Mittens is a picky eater,
but there is one thing she just can't get enough of- dry cat food. She loves nibbling on
the stuff. Crunch...Crunch..."
