Kitty Star of the Week for Aug. 26 - Sep. 1, 2007.
Our kitty is Carmen, and her person-mom writes,
"How Carman (A.K.A. Dolly) adopted us:
"My husband and I moved to Arizona from Minnesota in Oct. 2004 (we were going
to be petless due to my terrible allergies). We decided to take a trip to
Mexico in November of 2004. We reached Nogales, Arizona late and decided to
check into a hotel. While checking into our hotel I had to use the restroom
and I had to use the gas station across the street (for whatever reason), as
I was walking, this dirty, scrawny, little kitty was following me, rubbing
up against me, purring, meowing. I shooed her away into the bushes, trying
to remember my husband and I decided to be petless from now on. While my
husband was checking into the hotel the lady behind the desk saw me and the
kitty interacting and said to my husband 'Wow, that little kitty has been
hanging around here for a couple days and she NEVER lets anybody get close
to her, if you can catch her, you can keep her. Please...try to get her, you
can keep her in your room if you want.' To make a long story short I came
out of the gas station with a box of kitty food, to find my husband holding
the kitty in his arms.

"We never did make it across the border. The next
morning we drove straight home, made a vet appointment and the rest is
history. We named her after the lady behind the desk at the hotel - Carman.
Later she told me her name is really Dolly. So her legal name is Carman and
her nickname is Dolly.
"She is the most perfect angel in the world! She catches bugs right out
of mid air for her momma. (She knows momma doesn't like bugs.) Dolly loves
to snuggle with her momma and rough-house with her daddy."
And now her kitty-daddy writes,
"Every morning our cat Carmen sits in her tree house waiting for me to
play with her, its like a ritual every morning. She waits until I put
my towel on (after my shower) and
then she meows and won't quit until I start to play with her. If I ignore
her she will go to the foot of the bed and try to swipe at me playfully
until I do (and I ALWAYS do). When we are done playing she can get on with
her day and do her cat things that she does when we are not there.

"Dolly holds a very special place in our hearts, we talk about her when
we are not at home. We both love her soooo much!"
