Kitty Star of the Week for December 10 - 16, 2000.
Meet C.C., a four year old, nearly ten pound kitty.
He is 100% "alley cat". His cat-mom belongs to one of his person-mom's
former students, but no one is certain who the daddy is.
All his brothers and sisters
found homes, but C.C. still needed a place to go.
The student's parents
wouldn't let her keep C.C., because they already had five cats.
Her best
friend two doors down also had five kitties.
The man living in between
them hated all these cats and was going to kill C.C. if he could get his
hands on him, so his person-mom adopted him.
His name was already C.C., because the
girls had him in the house, left a bowl of cookies and cream ice cream
unattended and returned to the kitchen to find a happy kitty and an empty
ice cream bowl. They brought him to his new mom after school one day when she was
proctoring detention and kept him entertained until she was free.
He's a sweetheart and is the most laid-back cat his people have ever seen. He's not
at all alarmed by the Border Collie (at least not anymore) and doesn't mind
being carried around the house by his 4-year-old sister, Emily. He's not
crazy about the cockatiel, since he's been bitten on the nose twice, but
the parakeet is an endless source of entertainment. Tweety knows he's safe
and performs for C.C. any chance he gets.
C.C.'d rather drink from a stream of water out of the bathroom
faucet than use his bowl, and the water is exciting to play in after he's
had his drink. He'll occasionally even get a drink from the dog's water
bowl and dare her to disturb him. His favorite foods are
Science Diet dry food, with a special treat each evening of 1/2 a can of
Science Diet canned food or a few kitty treats. Tuna "juice" is an
occasional delicacy, too.
One of his favorite spots is the bay window, which faces west and provides lots
of sunbathing opportunities in the afternoon. He also has a kitty shelf in
the family room window. Another favorite spot is in the middle of the
bed, preferably snuggled down in the comforter. He much prefers an unmade
bed. At night he likes to jump up on the bed and cuddle up close to either
his person-dad or mom and purr in content. He's even slept on Emily's bed a few
times, when his mom and dad haven't gone to bed early enough to suit him.
